What originally drew me to music in general was growing up hearing my mom play all the classics around me. My dad was also a DJ so I guess it’s in my blood. As for hip hop specifically it was “All Falls Down” by Kanye that drew me to the genre. It was completely different from the hip hop I heard before. I begged my mom to buy his album ‘The College Dropout’ and it was a wrap.
I think what makes my music stand out is my overall sound. The beats I make/choose to go on plus the melodies I come up with. I usually don’t try to make a song sound good by making what I think people will like. I make music based off of what I personally think sounds good and it always sounds like something fresh when the product is complete. I also draw inspiration from my real life and talk about my personal experiences unlike a lot of rappers who lie in their music for clout. My messages are usually about motivation, trying to make it out, my goals and showing everyone how serious my drive and hunger is to make it. Every now and then when I’m in my feelings I’ll make a love song.
I usually get inspired when I’m feeling happier, sadder or cockier than usual. I also write most of my personal songs at night. I’m definitely a night owl so I get a lot of inspiration when it’s dark out. Especially if it’s storming outside. I also get inspiration just from the people around me believing in what I do and believing I can achieve my goals. Support is always inspirational for me.
My current favourite artists would have to be the homies Fury and Leo Noirr. We all rep the same gang, crew or team whatever you want to call it. A collective of creative and talented individuals, OTM$, Which stands for One Tracked Minds.
Outside of working on music I actually like to draw. I’m currently developing a couple comic series but that’s lowkey for now. I also like photography. That’s more of a hobby for me but I’m pretty decent at it so maybe after I retire from music years from now I’ll pick that up as a full time thing.
I stay focused on my vision by thinking of the people I do this for. I think about my mom hustling to put food on the table and a roof over my head. I think about all the struggle I’ve been through and never wanting to go back to that lifestyle. I think about the things I want to do when I have a voice thanks to my music. I have many goals and before I close my eyes I’d like to help make this planet a bit more bearable to live on for everyone. I have no plan B it’s go hard or go home so I need to make it for everything I believe in.
I wouldn’t tell myself too many things in terms of doing things different. I’m a firm believer in everything happens for a reason. Everything happened the way it was supposed to otherwise I wouldn’t be the person I am today. The only thing I would tell my younger self is to not be scared to tell people I want to make music. I was and still am very introverted it’s hard for me to express certain things without feeling like I’m being judged for it. I’m over that part of being introverted now though so I would probably try to help my younger self get over that obstacle sooner.
